Thank you very much for your information. This is a dwarf D'Anjou and has had a hard time bearing fruit in the past. I really appreciate the help. Since the activity primarily located in a small area, I think I may just prune it out.
Whoops! I just checked my shipping tags and the tree is listed as "Stark Honeysweet Pear Dwarf", apparently a private label registration. Actually, the fruit looks more like Bartlett than D;Anjou.
