Wendy's recent post of Passiflora fruit in Vancouver made me remember a series of photos I took last summer of Passiflora incarnata UBCBG Accession 038319-0693-2006. A bee came to visit while I photographed. It was clear that the pink ring in the centre was the primary focus of the bee as she circled repeatedly with her "nose" in it.

    P. incarnata is not commonly seen in this region and I don't think they bloom as abundantly or for such a long period as the more common P. caerulea, bluecrown passionflower, but I find them more beautiful.

I tried 'Incense' once but slugs climbed onto a table over a concrete patio to kill it before I even got it into the ground. Sometimes a very effective way to find out why you don't see certain plants around is to buy one and bring it home.
