A friend in Montreal asked me to find herbicide made by CIL with PAR-IV 2-4-D which apparently is no longer sold in Quebec. I'm have concerns about this: I thought 2-4-D was banned? Google search showed a number of herbicides with 2-4-D which seems to be rated as safe. Could I get some clarification on this, please? Thanks. Lynette
Thanks. I found out a bit more. Apparently, the ban is in effect for Quebec but not Ontario. Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) re-evaluation study reported in 2005 2,4-D is approved for continued use to much controversy about it's objectivity; the final report is due in 2007. There's a private member's bill tabled by NDP MP Pat Martin to put a ban in effect by Earth Day 2007. Lynette
Too bad Pat Martin would'nt do something useful like try to ban something that is actually of any concern to public health and the environment! Oh ya, he's a politition. When the World Health Organization, American Cancer Society, European Health commission, Health Canada, and the EPA, all agree it is of no concern to public health when used in accordance to label rates. Its not known to cause cancer. But Pat says there all wrong I'm sure. Thats my 2 cents. Jim.
