    Hello,

I have owned a Pachira for about three years now. It has done very well and grown to about three feet tall. Unfortunately, I'm concerned now that it can't support its own growth. Let me explain...Of the five trunks braided together, only one trunk is still green and producing any growth, the other four and brown, dry and look to be completely dead to me. There is actually a lot of growth from this one remaining living trunk, at this time there are five (there were six) big branches stemming from the trunk with large leaves. Because this one trunk was supporting so much weight I added a dowel to the pot and tied the trunk to it at various points. The problem now seems to be that the branches and leaves stemming from the trunk appear to be too large and are now drooping quite low, and I fully expect the delicate branches to start breaking off from the weight very soon. I don't know how to help support those branches, or if I should just leave it alone. I had read that pachiras could grow quite tall, so as mine was growing I would repot it once a year or so into a slightly larger pot, the last time I did so was about five months ago. Could it be that the pot is to big and it is the best interests of the plant to keep it in a small pot and restrict it's growth?

Also, is there any harm in leaving the dead trunks as they are, or should they be removed? Any thoughts?

    Thanks
