Hi there, pretty new to plants and I bought this cacti from an exhibition. I noticed yesterday that it was drooping and soft. I think I must have over watered it...and must have used too big of a pot. Im not sure how I can save it...should I cut off the top and let the bottom dry and re-pot it? :(
In my experience, it looks to me like the plant is too far gone to be saved. Sorry to tell you that. But I am not an expert so maybe someone else will have a second opinion that is more positive. I hope it can be saved but I doubt it.
No, when the rot has spread to the top of the grafting stock (the green part), it is usually too late. (Besides, the top would not survive alone as it lacks chlorophyll.) These cacti are known for being rot-prone, they need good drainage and should be kept warm in winter.
