I have an orchid plant that apart from the blooms on one stem has started to grow leaves half way up the other stem. How can I transplant the leaves now growing to a new pot? Or should I wait until the leaves start to show a root?

    Thank you!

what kind of orchid do you have? you have any picture? Usually if you divide you have to take 4 stems or plant. and at times there are rhizomes tha connect all the orchid and thats the part that you have to cut but i hope you can post pictures so i can tell you more. i am an orchid hobbyist and so far i have many orchids from dividing.

If you are describing keikis (orchid babies) growing from a flowering stem, I wouldn't try to remove from the mother plant until roots are minimum 1/2-1 inch long. The more established the baby becomes the easier it will be to care for after it is removed. If you can post an identification of your orchid or a photo maybe we can provide more information.
