Oklahoma Redbud or another?

I love the color and shape of the Oklahoma Redbud Tree and plan on planting one as an accent in my front yard. Sun until late afternoon. Apparently it's hardy in zone 8, but wondering if anyone else has had success with this tree in Oregon/Washington.

 

There is a wholesale nursery in Boring that grows them commercially in the field, so it should do okay in West Linn.

 

I'd guess that Western Redbud (Cercis occidentalis) would be better adapted to your conditions.

 

cercis occidentalis could be more showy, requiring less hours of cold for heavy flowering, but it is a difficult plant to find in pdx save for giant wholsalers.
