Could someone please suggest types of plants for my husbands office? He has no windows or natural light. Thanks, K
Hmm Well one plant I know of that does well in little to no sunlight would be a Pothos Ivy. They are also hard to kill. You can't over water them and they can tolerate being forgotten and not watered for awhile.
Dracaena fragrans, or marginata, Pothos, ZZ plant, Poinsettia( surprisingly), african violets,Spathiphyllum, selloum philodendron,there are quite a few that will work well.
african violets need good lighting to do well... otherwise, everything suggested would be okay for an office with only artificial lighting.
Cast Iron plant, APADISTRA eleator if you can find it, is excellant for a low lite area. It's been around for ages and it's not called cast iron plant because it's fussy. It's really hard to kill. All the suggestions above are also good except maybe the orchid. barb
a plant in our office that does well is the grape ivy (Rhoicissus rhomboidea). Ours thrives on neglect
kdog states that her husband's office has no windows or natural light: the selection of plants which could inhabit the office would be greatly enhanced through the use of artificial light. In fact, an illuminated plant would be a striking visual accent. One question that should be asked: how much of a plant person is kdog's husband? Does he enjoy tending them, or does he simply want something green and low-maintenance? This answer will have a lot to do with which plants we should recommend.
I would recommend a Peace Lily, although from what I've read it can be hard to convince them to flower again!
