Hi everyone, our office has this great green plant, which we thought was just a leafy plant. it recently sprouted two BEAUTIFUL maroon & red flowers. now we're going crazy trying to figure out what it is to get another...... anyone have an idea?
It is a Hoya carnosa, or wax flower plant. It is very hardy, but I managed to destroy several. This is a link to a page where it was designated plant of the week. http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week029.shtml
I have seen wax plants before, but the flowers are always in bunches, and not in a trumpet shape or as scarce (it has bloomed only 2 single flowers)..... which is why I did not think it is a wax plant.
Isn't that an Aeschynanthus? http://www.gardening.eu/plants/Apartment-Plants/Aeschynanthus-speciosus/1731/
Sorry for the mis-read. I was a little too quick with my response. The leaves had me fooled. If I had read the initial post carefully, the flower description would have eliminated the Hoya carnosa. I'll be more careful next time.
