We have a weeping Norwegian spruce on our apartment balcony. The pot is bigger than the picture would suggest and due to space constraints and ease of movement we're leaving it in there. For two years there hasn't been a problem and this year it again sprouted new growth.

However, during the past three weeks we've noticed "browning" and some loss of needles up top. Possible causes:
    1) recent hot weather here in White Rock, BC where we get all day sun?
    2) fertilizing? which I read recently one shouldn't do to conifers.
    3) watering? I do a little every couple of days... too much or two little?
