This is the second year that I have notice that wasps are visiting my tree. There is a shiny deposit on the leaves as well as drippings on the plants below it. What is the attraction and will this damage the tree? Should I treat and if so with what? Thanks

Exudations (honeydew) of sucking pests, such as scale insects. Examine the tree for these. Wasps might come anyway just as a part of their normal hunting.
