I'm thinking this was originally earthtone in color and then turned yellow.
It looked pretty cool today. Can anyone ID it?

    I like the colour!
Depending on whether the underside of these "caps" have pores or are smooth-looking, I would guess Turkey Tail or Stereum. Do you know if the tree was a hardwood or conifer?

The yellow colour I'm thinking maybe algae growth?

    cheers!

Judging from the bark and the similar bark of the surrounding trees, I'd say it's not a conifer. I guess "timing is everything" because today the yellow was all but gone. It will be interesting to see if a green hue shows up in the next few weeks.

Here's the underside of a shelf. There was no way to shoot the underside without removing a bracket from the fallen tree.

Surprise! So, not a turkey tail, nor a Stereum, more of a gilled polypore sort of thing.

I'm hoping someone from your side of the continent weighs in on this. Perhaps Lenzites?

    cheers!
