Identification: No IDea what this one is...

    I haven’t tried yet to identify it, but I am not sure where to start. Very interesting look, that should be helpful.

    After a quick search, I think this might be Strobilomyces strobilaceus.

    It is a bolete, I just went out to check, so I think the ID could be correct. Never seen it in the yard before, but that could be due to not being attentive enough. Oh well, I always welcome surprises...

    Very striking mushroom! We don’t have this one in the PNW. Your ID makes sense - I think that they call this Old Man of the Woods?
