I read on a blog that if your thuja hedge has damage, it will not grow back on those spots. The writer suggest you can plant a new tree inside the hedge to basically cover the bare spots. Does this sound doable? Even if I'm able to dig through established roots and plant new tree inside the hedge. Will it work? The front of the new thuja would be exposed to sunlight, but to have it flush with the existing hedge the rest of it would be inside the existing hedge.
Did you try this? It would likely work, as long as the reason the original hedge plant died isn't a soil fungus.
