I acquired a 9' Olive Tree at an Orchid Greenhouse. The owner just wanted to get rid of it since he had had it forever. It was actually his wife's tree, he sold it to my mom for $10. It had been sitting against the west side glass of the greenhouse forever. When I pulled it away that whole side was flat. I am in Michigan and the wind chill that day was well below zero, I believe the actual temp was in the single digits. My daughter and I moved the tree out to the truck and was able to get it into the back of the pickup. The pickup has a cap on it and an 8' bed. The top of the tree was drooping so we were able to get all of it into the back. It took us around ten minutes to get it put away. The tree was in the back of the truck for almost an hour and a half that it took us to drive home. My mom gave it to me because she was visiting with my dad and it is a three hour drive home for them and none of us thought the tree would make in the back of the pickup in those temps. Now it has been in the house for a week, I repotted it right away, it was root bound. Now the leaves on the tree are curling up, drying up and falling off. I am wondering if the tree has gone into shock from the prolonged period in the cold or if something else is going on? Did I kill this poor tree by bringing it home? Oh, it is in my living room sitting in front of a large south facing window seat, it gets plenty of sun when we have it. Thanks ahead for any help that anyone can give me.
