I got an acer red dawn from a Tennessee nursery on ebay. It was shipped with some dirt in a plastic bag . I planted it on arrival and in three days all of the leaves are gone. I know it is not the best time to plant but I had to get it into the ground. Can anyone shed some light on this dilemma? It came out of the box with some crispy leaves. My other jms are fine. Will it put out new leaves?
Sounds like it got fried a little in the shipping. It could be dead, but probably just in shock. Give it lots of shade and proper water, and it will most likely push out new leaves. It can only do this one time. If it gets stressed again, the plant will be a gonner. This is a horrible time of year to plant JMs. I'm surprised the nursery even agreed to ship it.
