Front entrance, full sun, seaside location, windy, rural area. Looking for tree idea, magnolia grandiflora is not happy but a pine about 25 feet away is House is a rancher, lots of roof showing, cannot see the sea from the front, just house. Also need ideas for a few broadleaf (or not) bush like plants to fill in this same area. thanks
For the tree maybe a gum (Eucalyptus). Possible shrubs include Arbutus unedo Cistus Corokia cotoneaster Elaeagnus Escallonia Euonymus japonicus Phlomis fruticosa Pittosporum tobira Rhamnus altaternus Rhapiolepis Viburnum The Arbutus and Rhamnus are tall-growing and could just as well be used as the tree.
