Identification: Need Help???

Just received this lil guy as a gift, no sure what kind of plant this is and the person who gave it to me don't know what it is either or how to care for it. The flowers seem to grow in the opposite direction, the leaves feel fuzzy and thick and kind of reddish underneath the leaves. Please help...

 

Looks like Cyclamen persicum, Cyclamen.

it this plant poisonous???
