We have an existing hedge made of western red cedar and douglas fir but it's pretty sparse in some places. We're wondering if we could get away with interplanting emerald cedars or even laurel to get more privacy. Any suggestions? I'm not sure the photo shows the sparesness properly but you can easily see the properties right through it and vice versa when in person... I don't know if the existing trees would overshadow any new ones planted in or if they would grow nice and thick or grow thin and sickly...
