Can anyone tell me what kind of plants I purchased a few weeks ago?

    Plant #1
    Plant #2

Plant #2 isn't doing so well. It is really drying out and I'm desperate to know what kind of plant it is so I can figure out how to best care for it.

    Thanks much,

    -Tim

#1 is a fittonia...needs consistantly moist soil...almost soggy. i water mine every couple of days. i did mean to put it in the self-watering av pot and haven't done that yet. it needs filtered light. bright light is okay if it's only for an hour or so, definitely not full sun as that would burn the leaves.

#2 i have no idea what it is. looks in really bad shape.

if there's new growth down there somewhere, i'd say it's worth trying to get it back to what it should be. trim off all the dead areas and maybe unpot it to take a look at the roots - it could be root bound (which would require repotting in a larger container) or there could be root rot which would require trimming off the bad parts if it's not too extensive or, if it is, taking cuttings and rooting them to start fresh.

if there is new growth, could you get some pics of it...can't really make an id from the existing pic.

#1 is Fittonia albivenis (F. verschaffeltii var. argyroneura)

#2 is Russelia equisetiformis. It is supposed to look like that. Its a coralliform species that mimics a "horsetail" (Equisetum).
