I have a few of this same carnosa. It's one of the older versions grandma's had hanging around the house.
Although both plants, carnosa and motoskei have VERY similar spotted leaves, from what I understand, H. Motoskei leaves are more wider and rounder then the spotted H. carnosa. I have read that H. Motoskei is also a carnosa, one of the first older. or oldest version of carnosa, but it's also kinda confusing name wise. Mine have never flowered as of yet, but I don't think you can go by flower color alone to make an id. Here's one of mine that was identified years ago by hoya collectors as an old fashion spotted carnosa.
It depends on which hoya you have I think. I have another kind of hoya (not carnosa) that flowers near the end of winter. Some will flower a few times during summer. Give them good light with a few hrs of sun. Although no direct sun for my H. pubicalyx, that one sulks and can burn the leaves. The thicker leaved hoyas can take some direct sun ok. I have alway read carnosas can bit stubburn to flowers for some... Fertilize (half strength) at each watering from spring until fall and let the plants roots fill the pot (use the smallest pot you can with about an inch of room from the sides for the roots to be comfortable) Let the roots get somewhat root-bound. Water thoroughly when dry.
This is my hoya, not sure of its name, but it seems to do very well in this afternoon sun window. Do you think the privacy film on the window is diffusing too much? I've had it about a year and a half but have not seen any bloom yet. I'll try the suggestions. Thanks. ~kalem
KMalcolm that is a Carnosa Krimson Princess. I have the exact same plant in the same EA pot. Mine hasnt bloomed yet either, Carnosa's seem to take a loooong time to bloom. They usually dont start until they are at least a few years old. If you want a hoya that blooms from a very young age then try Lacunosa, Obscura, or multiflora. I have cuttings of all of those and they all have buds on them already!
Your carnosa looks great! The diffused light doesn't seem to have had hurt it one bit.This carnosa (krimson princess) like newbieplantlover mentioned, seems to flower more readily then the other carnosa's, for me anyway. So I would try giving yours more light, maybe hang it outdoors in bright shade and also letting it get a "little" sun too, but you'll want to give it some sun "gradually" so the leaves won't go haywire from the sudden change in light and see if you can't get a flower or two.
