I found this plant in a ditch beside the road when I was taking a walk, like someone had dumped it out of a pot. Feeling sorry for it, I took it home and re-potted it. Now I'd like to know what it is. Thanks in advance.

It's ivy of some sort; give it a place to climb or hang the pot when it gets bigger, and it will be a happy and fairly easy to care-for little houseplant. I wouldn't reccomend putting it in your garden, though.

To me it has a look of Ipomoea batatas.

    I also think it's a sweet potato.
