My husband inherited this plant from an office mate and brought it home. We don't know what it is but since we've had it home it has started to send out some spikey green shoots. Any ideas of what it is and advice on care? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Wow! Thanks for the quick response. I'll look it up to find out more about it.

Your epiphytic cactus needs more light, it is too leggy, and may become very brittle. They tend to bloom from may to June. More light, more blooms!

Thanks for the light tip. When can I trim it safely to encourage more branching or should I trim it all? We've only had it out of the office for a few weeks and as soon as it warms up a bit I plan to move it into the sunroom (east facing). Hopefully, that will give it enough light.

I would let it adapt to the sun room asap... it can happily tolerate cool nights (10 to 12 celsius), which will encourage the blooms...
