    Hello all,

I am new to gardening in Victoria and, while pulling off some moss from a brick wall yesterday, discovered several larvae embedded in the underside of the moss. They are around 3/4 to 1 inch long, creamy grey in colour with darker ends and segmented.

Should I be feeding these to the birds, or will they turn into something useful in my garden?

    Many thanks,

    Possibly European crane fly.

    Hi Ron,

Thank you so much - the picture of the larva looks EXACTLY like what I saw in the garden. It doesn't look like it's a particularly valuable lifeform (can be quite damaging in fact) so the birds are about to have a feast . . . .

    Best regards,

    Nicola
