They are very lovely, but for those of us who aren't experts - what are they? What time of year were the photos taken. How long do they bloom for? Are they hardy?

I don't remember seeing rain lilies here before, certainly not as fine a stand as the first kind shown.

And I've tried growing them myself.

    Hi Jade C
I am amazed at how many times of the year rain lilies bloom. I live in Nanaimo on Vancover Island and would be interested to know the hardy zones as well ,as I am on the backside of a mountain, so a little cooler temps up here. Are they easy to find? I had never heard of or seen them before, but would love to get some for my garden. Looking forward to some more pics!

Zephyranthes spp. have been grown at UBCBG, but in the Alpine House or bulb frame. I don't know that much about them. Wikipedia says some species hardy to Zone 7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zephyranthes

JadeC, it sounds like the photos are from somewhere other than Vancouver. Where did you garden when you took the photos?

    Hi Jade C,
Absolutley gorgeous flowers! They are so beautiful! Thankyou for all the photos. Your from Taipei? I have a rescue dog that I brought over from Taipei earlier this year and keep in touch with the people from the rescue organization in Taipei.
I hope that you will be able to bring the flowers over here, they are so pretty, and I can't beleive how often they bloom. That is truly amazing. Again, thankyou for sharing, have an awesome day!

    Hi Jade,
That would be wonderful if you could bring some specimens back to Canada after Xmas. I hope that will be possible. Your a student? You sound like you are doing good work if you have extended the blooming life of the flowers. You are very dedicated. That is great! I hope you are enjoying being in Canada, I look forward to hearing how it all goes when you try to bring the flowers back to Vancouver. Thanks again for introducing to all of us such a beautiful flower.

    Jade,
More beautiful pcitrues of your treasures! They are such a delicate and beautiful flower. They somehow make you feel good just looking at them. It is nice to see such beauty when our weather is so cold and not much sun. What is the height of the flowers? Are they grown from bulbs or seeds? Thanks again for sharing!
