I have a common plant I cannot remember the name. I have had the original plant for more than 10 years, and several years ago I planted two smaller like plants in the same container.

This fall for the first time EVER the original plant shot out a flower stem like an orchid and flowers have bloomed. The last TWO nights after sunset the flowers open and a fragrance is released so strong it fills a 3500 sq ft house! The flowers appear to be getting old, but we will see what happens tonight!

I have no clue what this plant is, or why it decided to bloom now? Or what to do with the flower and stem now?

I thought it might be, but it looks so different than another one I have.

I am wondering what to do with the flower, the stem is very sticky and drippy. I will be interested to see how long the flower lasts, but it does appear it will be short.

I staked it to a big piece of Bamboo last fall and than wrapped white holiday lights around it... We actually kept the lights on 24/7 for many weeks. This plant was in the entry for most of the spring and summer with a window high above it. I didn't do anything with the soil, in fact this plant was most neglected last year.
