I received a hibiscus as a gift and it started out full of green leaves and over the past 3 weeks since I received it the leaves have started to yellow, shrivel and fall off. The top of the dirt is very dry but when I put my finger deeper in the dirt it is moist. Can someone tell me what needs to happen to bring it back to full bloom.

The main problems are probably that: it is a Hibiscus, and (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere) this is January.

It would be easier to diagnose the problem if we knew more about the care it's receiving. How much light (which sources? How far away?), temperature, humidity, that sort of thing. A picture might help too. Are the leaves sticky? Are there fluffy white masses where the leaves connect to the main stem? Are there small, fine webs on the plant? Is it in a draft? Is it sitting in front of a heater or heat vent? Etc.
