Clematis - Gilian Blades (Group B1), the leaves are turning brown and shrivelling up. It has started from the bottom and is rising steadily. The plant is young, maybe 2 years old, 5' high. The soil is fresh with a mixture of aged cattle manure. I've applied some epsom salts a few weeks ago, to no avail. It has been watered frequently. I don't know what else to do.

Sounds like clematis wilt. This is a common affliction of hybrid clematis.
