Just curious as to what these dainty little beauties are - they've popped up in my flower pot. They're slightly yellower than the pic would indicate, and about 4 inches in length.
The mushroom in question is probably Leucocoprinus birnbaumii, a species fairly common in greenhouses and potted plants. Most of the species of L. birnbaumii that I have encountered have been more vividly yellow, but they can fade as they mature. This fungus shouldn't cause problems for your plant--it breaks down organic matter in the soil for nutrition. It is NOT edible, however.
I found this in my cheese plant today, it sound like the one your describing. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13723&stc=1&d=1150744422 http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13724&stc=1&d=1150744470 http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13725&stc=1&d=1150744470
