This was found last October at the edge of woodland in the upper slopes of a limestone gorge in western Crete. The photos are taken on-the run, keeping up with a walking group, and so the detail is not as good as I would like. Any guidance will be welcome.

    Greetings Fidel,
This is a Russula mushroom, an often challenging group to get to species. But if you can locate a regional guide, that can help to point out frequently appearing species, in case that might include yours.
    cheers,

Thanks Frog. I've been through a checklist of Greek macrofungi and, purely (and dangerously, I know) on physical features, am drawn to R. maculata.

Thanks again - a great help.
