i'm thinking i'd like to move, and thin, some bulb plantings .. it occurred to me the best time might be while they are in flower, so i can see them .. would this be accurate?

    thanks

most bulbs are split and/or moved in the fall - which is after they've done their blooming and recharging the bulb for the following years growth. any earlier and you disrupt the process.

The popular, easily grown kinds of spring-blooming bulbs can all be moved while in growth with little adverse effect. You don't, of course, want to tear the roots off or break the stems connecting the leaves to the bulbs. Try popping them out with a fork.

thank you for the replies .. i know i could disrupt the cycle, however, if these don't get moved, they will be destroyed .. so .. thanks for the confirmation re moving, ron .. i will dig deep and take out clumps .. see what happens ..

    thanks, again ..
