1, or maybe 2 very spindly Rancho's in the middle of the meridian of Main st at Main and 11th. The mural at Main and 10th is also showing the spring cherry blossom pink.....it won't be too long and this mural will disappear behind another high rise going up at the corner of Main and Broadway.
The four 'Whitcomb' cherries at Tea Swamp Park, Sophia and 15th, are in bloom now, and they are nice and colourful. I'm not sure 'Whitcomb' ever get to peak bloom. Flowers start blooming when the temperatures hit 10 degrees for a few days, but they don't all open at once, maybe because there is a lot of temperature variation in early spring. So there are new flowers opening for several weeks.
An interesting perspective on the Accolade trees on the north side of City Hall. Taken from inside the building through the beautiful Art Deco Doors, while waiting in line to vote . Then a quick pic taken just as it was getting dark after voting!
Now WHY didn't I think of taking photos of the cherry trees? Here's a photo I took of part of those beautiful doors while I was doing the same thing. Interestingly, I noticed several (Snofoazam?) weeping cherries (2 sets of three) and something else, which I can't remember now, as I was approaching City Hall, but I was on the wrong side of the street and didn't feel like crossing over. This was 12th Avenue, south side, between Cambie and Ash, on presumably private property.
OK, that clinched it. I was wondering if I could use that photo in the parade of favourite locations at the bottom of Blooming Now - Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival; I've added it now.
