Last fall I dug up a lot of tulip bulbs that had been scattered about our garden in strange places. I cleaned the bulbs and allowed them to dry before placing them in storage but forgot to check on them. Moisture and consequently mold is covering them yet all are sprouting and have roots formed - pretty much at the same state of development as the ones coming up in the garden now despite the blue fuzz. It's not a heavy mold, simply the start of it. I'm wondering is is worthwhile putting them in the ground?
I've had that happen with tulips and gladiolas. I just wiped off and removed as much of the infected area as I could, dusted the bulbs with a fungicide and put them back in storage in vermiculite. They were fine for fall planting. Hope this helps. Les
Thank you Ron B. and lhuget :) I sorted out the worst and planted them in the ground- kind of a weird time of year but I don't expect to be living here by next fall and don't just want to throw them away.
