Well, I finally got myself a mission fig tree, I'm really excited about it, I love the taste and can't wait for some produce from it.
However, the woman who sold it to me at the nursery said that the fruit isn't very tasty or big enough when grown out here on the Gulf Islands.
Is this true? Even if I have given it everything it requires. Is she just being a fig snob, (she wanted me to buy a Turkish variety) or what?

The Brown Turkey is probably better for
cooler climates than a Mission is. As far
as size goes the Mission here gets much
larger a tree than any Brown Turkey will.
Be mindful of suckering as Mission likes
to send up suckers from the base of the
tree. Fruit quality is good for the Mission,
the size of the fruit here are rather large
and there are more crops in a year here
than a Brown Turkey will yield also.
Mission likes as much warmth as you
    can give it.

    Thanks Mr Shep. (Jim)
I have a great sunny protected spot at the back of the house.
