Hi, I've recently planted some mint and recently noticed that the leaves have some white spots on them. I used the same pot for mint, thyme, and chives. Have you ever seen this? do you know what it is? I think it started on the mint and then spread to other herbs. I've also noticed the pot has developed some black spots but am not sure if this is related or not. I've attached some pics to help identify the problem. http://img14.imageshack.us/i/img1884i.jpg/ http://img14.imageshack.us/i/img1885h.jpg/ http://img142.imageshack.us/i/img1891p.jpg/ thanks for your help
This is very common on mint leaves and in other aromatics. I eliminate the leaves with many white spots.
I have the same thing. It is not insects, at least nothing visible to the eye. I will take a look with a magnifying glass when I get some time. It's most likely a microbe of some sort and it's a nuisance. The most recent growth near the tip of a stem is free of white spots. This means a few leaves and the rest of the leaves further down the stem show this spotting. My best guess is bacterial, viral or fungal infection. I have applied an "organic" fungicide to a small, relative "clean" cutting which I have planted elsewhere. I am keeping an eye on it to see if the problem goes away. All other planting (2 distant spots in my garden) show the white spotting on two varieties of mint. This sounds like a very common problem. Help!
