millions of tiny worms

    i live in Connecticut we had a lot of rain last night this morning i was out picking up fallen sticks and leaves that had fallen onto my driveway and i noticed something odd moving very slowley i took a closer look and it was millions of tiny worms all grouped together very slimy they are about half the size of a rice can anybody tell me what this is? i took a photo

    My guess is tent caterpillars that came down with the twig and leaf fall. They do mass like that when they are on trees.

    Hi,
    I happened to be Googling fungus gnat images shortly after reading this thread and they looked identical to your "worms". It came from this page

    p.s. They are the most disgusting things I've seen in a long time!

    Looks like you're right on, Sue. And those larvae are something else, aren't they?

    i will google them to see if they are harmful to kids or pets

    I have the same disgusting fungus gnats on my patio. What should I do to get rid of them? Are they dangerous to kids or pets? please help...
