This Metapanax davidii that we first noticed last month has, appropriately, Araliaceae-looking things now. Are these all we'll get for flowers, or are they just the buds (and we'll miss the flowers if we don't come back for two weeks)? Or are they the fruits already and we missed the flowers?

I can only find one photo of these on the internet and it doesn't say what they are, and no other fruit or flower photos.

    You should've asked the insect.

Ah, you're right. Today we asked, and the beetles framed the only open flower on the tree.

Framing isn't the only thing they're doing.

Flowers are open on the Metapanax davidii now. They have male and female parts on the same flowers - I think they're even complete flowers.
