Hi I'm new here. And I'm new in Canada to. I interested in a cactus plants! And here is my first question: Did you ever place an order for seed's at Mesa Garden (USA, NM) ? So problem is : I want to order some seed's from them. I have no idea how work Phytosanitary in Canada and what kind of problems may occure with my order. If you have any experience with buyin seed's out of Canada. please let me know what a can prepere for. Thank you Roman.
I ordered some seeds from Mesa garden last year along with a group of people. There is no problem with phytosanitary (not needed) for small orders of seeds. Live plants is a different story. The seeds took about 4 weeks or so to arrive. Many of my seeds were crushed. I do not know if they were crushed on purpose, at customs, at Mesa, or if the rollers at the postal service US/Canada are set to "Flatten". Ask that your order is packed in bubble wrap. In fact, demand it. Pay the extra money if they want it. Most of the seeds that did not become seed dust did germinate but I did not get seedlings for some species due to low germination/crushed seeds. If you want to order seeds from within Canada do a google search for cactus clubs in Canada. The Vancouver desert plant society sells seeds. Visit the website and get the email adrs. Tell Dirk I sent you. Wazungy.
Thank you for your edvice about seeds. I don't want to order seeds from Vancouver desert plant society because: They dont have a big selection as Mesa Garden has. And I dont really know what quality of seeds they have. But I know good references from my friends (But they not from Cananda) who working with Mesa Garden. And what about cactus forums in Canada? This one is a biggest from what I can find. Can you give me some links on other cactus forums? Roman
