I hear that there are a few idividuals of Melliodendron xylocarpum at UBC Bot Garden. I recently acquired one here in NC USA (having seen one of your goreous flower images), but I soon realized that I have no clue how big it will get. I did see one reference online describing a height of 6-20meters, but that is too great of a range to plan for. Does anyone over there have any more specific info about size/habit/hort? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Well, that's the way it is, I'm afraid: there is a range of potential heights possible, depending on various factors. Maybe pick a figure in the middle and plan on that, if you have to. Very little information on performance in western gardens will be available for this rare tree.
