I know little if anything about Maple Id. I am seeing trees here in Anacortes, WA that are so dark burgundy they are almost black. Any Ideas on a name?

One of the purple-black Acer platanoides cultivars, such as 'Crimson King', 'Faassen's Black', 'Goldsworth Purple', or 'Schwedleri'?

The first two are the most likely, in particular the first one. The last one does not stay fully purple through the season. There is also 'Royal Red'; North American landscapes often have introductions not prevalent or even present at all in Britain.
