    I found this maple tree at SW corner of East 7 Ave & Prince Edward St., across the Guelph Park on Sept 29, 2011

    Maybe a black sugar maple.

    It does not look like it to me. That produces a more columnar habit and pale shoots. The leaf outline of this tree is also different.
