Last summer I decided to splurge and buy myself a mandevilla vine. I have a sun room and thought it would do alright there. It was doing beautifully the first month or so but after that it started to go brown at the ends of the vines, usually just between the last two nodes. Other than that, the plant seems healthy enough. I still have it in the same pot and soil it came in. It has always been kept in the house. I thought it might be getting burnt from to much direct sunlight so I moved it to a spot where it gets lots of bright light but no direct sun. Was that o.k.? Any advice? Marric

Have you ever grown Periwinkles, Marric? Mandevilla is a relative, and responds to the same kind of care. Personally, I think you did the right thing moving it out of the direct sun in your sunroom, since the glass can sometimes focus or concentrate the rays and burn your plants. Here's your caveat lector, because I've only ever grown Mandevilla outdoors in the tropics, but I've noticed that it prefers part shade. If you can make the sunroom humid, you'll probably get flowers.

You may want to re-pot it eventually, since the length the vine can attain is directly related to the amount of space it has for its roots.
