I believe this is a Mammillaria spinosissima. This summer it made itself another center. As you can see it has 2 of them. Does this mean its "clumping"?

what can I expect for it to look like? is it going to spread?

It is not exactly clumping, it has split dichotomously. It it will look like a 'Y' with time. The term "clumping" is used when a plant forms a lot of offsets, bodies that originate from areoles and look like the main plant but smaller.
