I noticed that The JM I picked up last week at a nursery in Ontario had a tag from Eshraghi Nursery (Oregon). I guess I was thinking that JM grown for nurseries would be grown closer to home. I would imagine that it is a significant cost to ship a tree so far to their retail location.
Retailers regularly import from all over. Oregon is a major producer of all kinds of nursery stock, so its not surprising to see plants grown there in Eastern locations.
I looked it up and the distance from Eshraghi to the nursery in Ontario where I purchased the tree is over 4000 km (2600 miles) and needing to cross the border as well. Obviously this is a long way to have come from if there were the same JM any closer, preferably in the same province.
