Has anyone had success starting Evergreen Magnolias from cuttings? Hardwood or greenwood? Best time to take cutings? Soak time and percent of Indole-3-butyric/ naphthaleneacetic acid? or using .1% IBA powder? Thanks.

Wood for softwood cuttings can be taken any time now
as the new growth is starting to expand. We did not do
a soak, we did a quick dip for 'Little Gem' and all of the
shrub Michelias. We did, however, soak for hardwood
cuttings taken in mid Fall for deciduous Mags and larger
growing, more tree like species forms of Michelia.

Equal amounts of IBA and NAA (we used roughly a .15
powdered talc version) is what we used, with the softwood
cuttings being placed in a moist perlite and vermiculite
    mix.
