Appreciation: Lycogala epidendrum

    This has appeared in the last couple days on an old beam in the yard.

    I moved about 250 miles north from Taos-ish, NM to central-ish Colorado about a year ago, both locations southern Rocky mountains. I didn't think there would be that much difference but I guess there is some increase in precipitation. I would only find this species along creek sides in NM but here it is in my yard.

    So squishy-cute they are! And yes I agree there can be surprising differences in regions even if many aspects are the same.
