I'm looking an interesting houseplant that would do well in low light conditions. I have a west facing window in the bedroom, but the plant would have to be several feet away, and the window is fairly small, so it doesn't bring in all that much light.

Sadly I've so far killed a lovely croton and a maidenhair fern that I tried to keep in there, and I'm hoping 3's a charm.

After searching the internet, I've seen suggestions for Chinese Evergreen, Cast Iron Plant, Snake Plant, Spathyphyllum and ZZ plant. Any others someone can recommend?

Also, is there a way to estimate how many foot candles of light an area is getting if you don't have a light meter?

    thanks,

Try Cordyline (ti plant), Dracaena, philodendron, ferns etc
