Hi everyone, Believe it or not my daughter, 9 1/2, has asked for Cauliflower for Christmas this year! Crazy but awesome. I'm on the hunt now for a decorative cauliflower plant to give her. I'm picturing a purple cauliflower with root system that I can put in a pot and we can treat, for a little while anyway, as an indoor house plant. I've been in contact with several planting/nurseries around the lower mainland, Art Knapp, David Hunter, Triple Tree, etc but have come up empty. Seems that it is pretty much a seasonal plant for these places. Does anyone have any idea where I could pick one up before the big red guy gets here? I live in Maple Ridge so would prefer out this way but any suggestions at this point would be very welcome. Thanks in advance, Russ
Make sure she's not talking about the Romanesco cauliflower, see one HERE. Sorry, I don't know where you would get any cauliflower.
I grew "cheddar" cauliflower this year (think I got it from Garden Works) and I've seen the orange and purple seeds available through Vesey's but I don't think you will be able to find the actual plant at this time of year. Veseys Coloured Cauliflower Seeds | West Coast Seeds - they are local in Vancouver and Delta Otherwise you could always get her some of the seeds and a few gardening tools so that she could grow them in the spring......
