Hello! I am making a video about single needle trees -- I am looking to film a Western White Pine. Does anyone know where one might be in the UBC neighbourhood? Or elsewhere? Your info is appreciated! Thanks fellow tree appreciators! Greta
What do you mean by "single needle trees"? - Western White Pine has its needles in fives, not singly. If it's just pines you're looking for, the one you want is Single-leaf Pinyon (Pinus monophylla). Otherwise, most other conifer genera have needles singly, e.g. firs, spruces, etc.
I'm sorry - my mistake! I meant to write cluster needles. Do you know where I might find a Western W.Pine? Peace + Joy, Greta
Thanks for the referral. We've been using the book, some successes, some not. We have one more proposed tree location for the Western White Pine! Thanks again!
Down here numbers of them are scattered around, Jacobson (2006, Trees of Seattle - Second Edition) calls it "plentiful". But I don't remember seeing that many examples up there.
