i have a fence that is old and decreped and i can't afford to replace it. i live in edmonton alberta which i think is zone 3. i need something to plant this spring that will be fast growing and hardy and will disguise this ugly fence. there is mostly afternoon to late afternoon sun and the soil is not the best. thanks for your help. i am new to this forum and i love to be in the garden, but i certainly have a lot to learn. joy to all you green thumbs!! starglazer
Virginia creeper, perhaps? Or maybe pigeonberry (I forget the scientific name here, but they're super common in Edmonton and eventually will replace your fence.)
Try the vine: Akebia quinata Common names chocolate vine USDA zones 04a-08b AHS heat zones Heat zones 08-03
Will Morning Glory work? It grows like 10 feet in a summer. I had it in clay soil and it grows in that too! It will die in the winter though so you will have to plant again in the spring. You can use creeping fig also. It grows on and in anything.
